My Journey of Entrepreneurship.
Three years ago, after over 10 years at some amazing firms, I decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship to try my hand at creating my own consultancy.
What a humbling journey it has been.
The 1st year building the foundation, learning and failing at all the new skills I needed to learn to succeed as an entrepreneur.
The 2nd year was the pandemic and learning to pivot a new business from live events to digital.
I’ve been through my fair share of challenges, as with most, yet the last three years have been the most emotionally and spiritually challenging period of my life.
Times I faltered.
All the no’s and rejections of the last three years was more than I ever experienced in my life, combined.
Times when I doubted whether I could find a way forward, whether I could get back up.
Yet each time I did, I grew more into the person I’ve always wanted to be – the blessings of this journey was beyond what I could have imagined.
All the people I met along the way. The teachers who showed me what compassion, humanity, and leadership is truly about.
Dedicated team members who worked day and night with me because they believed in the vision.
Amazing business partners and mentors – generously giving, teaching and helping.
Clients who chose to hire a new firm because they believed in us and what we were delivering.
Friends, family, and colleagues were there through some of the darkest times.
As challenging as it was, I am deeply grateful.
If I had not been faced with what I perceived as insurmountable challenges, I would not have had my heart opened enough to see the gift that has always been there.
To witness the phenomenal community that will come together, if I just asked.
To have the freedom to create what I’m passionate about. Building my own consultancy and developing new programs that were featured in major news outlets, e.g. NBC News, USA TODAY, Authority Magazine, CBS. Then taking my program to virtual reality with VRLU.
Launching the Boston chapter of the International Association of Women with a phenomenal and talented team.
Becoming an executive coach with @MIT Sloan School of Management
Certified with John Mattone, as a Master Level Intelligent Leadership Executive Coach, a program that was named one of the top three leadership programs in the world.
Published 3 books that gave me the opportunity to speak on media outlets around the country.
Collaborating with experienced business leaders to launch SmartUp Global Partners, supporting clients in digital and sales transformation.
Building a new social enterprise brand with my amazing business partner, Dr. Divya Sharma.
Looking at my pictures from three years ago and recently, I’m surprised by how much I have grown.
And while the challenges in business and in our world are real, I can see now that creating something that I believe contributes to making this world a better place is worth striving for.
What would you love to create?
